Sensitivity

Awareness of sensations. This includes the response to touch, pressure, varying temperature (heat, cold), light, and awareness of muscle tension (proprioception).  Excessive stimulation of the nociceptors causes a sensation of pain. Chemicals can also cause sensory effects.
